Nikita Construction is looking for a Carpenter Foreperson for its projects with Sandman Hotel Group in Sudbury/ON

Reporting to the site superintendent, our carpenter foreperson will have a strong balance of leadership, technical expertise, and a commitment to safety and quality to ensure all carpentry work is completed in compliance with project specifications, timelines, safety regulations and company policies. Effective communication with supervisors and team members is essential to maintain high standards of quality and efficiency. Your key duties will include:

· Supervise, coordinate, train, assist and lead a team of carpenters and apprentices

· Coordinate and assign carpentry tasks based on project plans, priorities, and schedules.

· Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials to construct, erect, install, maintain and repair structures, such as foundations, walls, roofs, and columns.

· Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine specifications and calculate material requirements.

· Prepare layouts in conformance with building codes using measuring tools.

· Build foundations, columns, and suspended slabs, and erect wood walls and construct roof systems using appropriate tools and techniques.

· Fit and install trim items, such as doors, stairs, molding, casing, baseboard, and hardware

· Fabricate and install wainscoting and high panels

· Use hand and power tools to cut, shape, and finish wood and other materials to achieve desired finishes.

· Resolve problems when they arise, addressing concerns and providing regular updates on progress to managers.

· Adapt to changes in project scope, timelines, or requirements, effectively communicating these changes to the project team and adjusting work schedules and plans as needed.

· Review and enforce on-site safety regulations throughout all stages, including reviewing individual crew daily Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) for compliance and attending weekly crew safety meetings to promote engagement.

· Support the growth and development of company culture.

· Perform other duties as required.

Required qualifications:

· Minimum 3 years of experience in a supervisory role.

· Proven expertise in framing, finishing, and general carpentry

· Ability to read drawings, plans, and blueprints.

· Knowledge of Federal/Provincial building codes.

· Red Seal or working towards Red Seal certification or equivalent

· Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

Requirements:

· Proven experience operating heavy construction equipment.

· Valid operator certification and driver’s license.

· Strong understanding of equipment capabilities and limitations.

· Ability to read and interpret site plans and markings.

· Commitment to workplace safety and team collaboration.

Physical Requirements:

· Must be able to stand and/or be on their feet 10-12 hours/day working in outdoor weather and/or unregulated temperatures

· Must be able to lift 50lbs and use proper lifting techniques for heavy items weighing more than 25 kilograms

· Must be able to climb scaffoldings.
