Your Opportunity

Stantec is seeking a highly motivated Assistant Construction Supervisor to provide project supervision for highway construction. Responsibilities include quality management, record documentation, survey and volume determination, cost control and reporting, and inspection services to ensure compliance with drawings, standards, and specifications.

The ideal candidate will communicate effectively (verbally and in writing), possess strong project/program management skills, and have an understanding of infrastructure design and construction. Tasks may include assisting with road and structure plans and designs, monitoring site activities, verifying on-site testing, and contract administration.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Supervising projects ensuring adherence to BC MOTT practices
  • Applying knowledge of BCMOT Standard Specifications and Major Works Construction Agreements, including interpretation and application
  • Possessing practical and technical knowledge of road construction, including grading and paving
  • Implementing quality management in project supervision
  • Liaising with consultants, other ministries, agencies, and stakeholders
  • Organizing and documenting project meetings
  • Managing schedules and budgets for individual road projects
  • Serving as an assistant client liaison to ensure project scope, schedule, and budget meet client expectations
  • Primarily working in a field office setting with travel required

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Current experience in highway inspection and supervision
  • Experience managing small to complex road construction projects
  • Experience developing and implementing Quality Control/Quality Assurance programs
  • Strong client relationship skills

Education And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or related field
  • 3-8 years of relevant experience

Salary Range(s)

  • Lower Mainland: $51/hour; BC Other Areas: $48/hour; PH - Lower Mainland: $77/hour; BC Other Areas: $72/hour. Final compensation depends on education, experience, and location. Some roles are bonus-eligible.
