Job Summary

The Constable is the primary contact for policing and security needs, responding to emergency calls and working irregular schedules including days, nights, weekends, and holidays to support a 24/7 operation.

Major Responsibilities
  • Develop partnerships with municipal, provincial, and federal officials, as well as major industries and local businesses impacting CN.
  • Identify high-risk locations and develop action plans to secure and prevent losses.
  • Investigate criminal incidents and enforce federal and provincial railway safety laws.
  • Participate in public speaking engagements.
  • Manage targeted traffic and trespass enforcement.
  • Conduct Operation Lifesaver presentations.
Working Conditions
  • Frequent travel across a large geographical area.
  • Preference for candidates residing within 100 km of the posting.
  • Availability to work shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Requirements
  • Accredited law enforcement program or equivalent.
  • Certification or eligibility for First Aid and CPR.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Reside within 100 km of the posting.
  • Strong teamwork skills and positive interactions with law enforcement and other departments.
  • Sound judgment, professionalism, autonomy, and initiative.
  • Ability to make informed, timely decisions.
  • Bilingual in English and French (written and verbal) *
  • Additional relevant experience, education, skills, or knowledge are assets.
Training

On-the-job training with a Coach Officer. Candidates without an accredited police college certificate must complete a 3-month training at the Ontario Police College.
