Job summary

GE Renewable Energy Canada Inc. is seeking an on-site Technical Field Advisor (Turbine and Generator) to support installation and commissioning of hydroelectric projects.

The role ensures mechanical and on-site work meet design, standards, quality, and health and safety requirements. The candidate should have a mechanical/electrical/civil engineering background with at least 5 years in hydroelectric generators and significant leadership and site management experience; strong MS Office skills are

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or civil engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of hydroelectric generator experience, preferably in a supervisor capacity.
• Strong knowledge of hydroelectric plant systems and structures.
• Minimum of 5 years in mechanical installation of shaft lines, turbines or generators.
• Excellent MS Office skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure EHS compliance and evaluate tasks to assess hazards posing risks to workers; confirm controls are in place to prevent injuries and unplanned events.
• Stop work if risks are not sufficiently mitigated.
• Lead on-site technical guidance to construction teams and coordinate with site management to plan and sequence activities.
• Monitor critical installation processes such as turbine and generator alignment, bearing installation, shaft coupling, and critical lifts.
• Provide input to construction schedules for technical tasks and critical path activities.
