Job description

McMillan Conflict and Risk Management Assistant

McMillan is seeking a Conflict and Risk Management Assistant for our Toronto office. This is a 12-month contract position.

As a member of the Risk Management department working from 10am to 6pm, you will play a key role in conducting conflict searches, monitoring and building ethical walls, and supporting administrative activities, including assisting the General Counsel and Chief Risk Officer.

Work Arrangement

This role offers a hybrid work schedule, combining both remote work and in-office days. Your specific schedule will be determined upon joining McMillan.

Responsibilities

  1. Setting up, managing, and monitoring ethical walls.
  2. Responding to inquiries and resolving issues related to conflicts.
  3. Identifying and escalating conflict issues.
  4. Liaising with Information Technology on software updates and process improvements.
  5. Supporting conflict searches through multiple request forms for completeness and accuracy.
  6. Conducting conflict surveys for lateral hires and generating related reports.
  7. Updating public company lists and maintaining directorship records.
  8. Participating in ethical wall and conflict projects, including testing related systems.
  9. Drafting and revising correspondence and processing invoices.

Qualifications

Minimum of 2 years' administrative experience, preferably in a legal environment.

Strong client service skills and ability to thrive under tight deadlines.

Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and analytical skills.

Comfortable with new technology and software.

Demonstrates initiative, resourcefulness, flexibility, good judgment, and professionalism.

Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
