Conflicts Administrator (1-Year Contract)

Role Overview:

Cassels is currently seeking a Conflicts Administrator for our General Counsel office. This role supports lawyers, legal assistants, and management by overseeing all aspects of the conflicts checking process. It’s an ideal role for a proactive individual who excels at risk management, compliance, and client service within a law firm setting. The successful candidate must also demonstrate sound judgement, independent thinking, and the ability to be nimble and problem solve. They must be able to apply a practical and sensible approach to identifying and escalating potential risks and conflicts of interest.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducting conflict of interest searches using firm systems (Intapp Conflicts) and internal/external databases.
  • Constructing search parameters across multiple databases to identify potential conflicts or risk issues (e.g., sanctions).
  • Preparing, curating, and interpreting conflict reports for review by the Firm’s lawyers.
  • Escalating potential issues to the Office of the General Counsel for resolution.
  • Establishing ethical screens/confidentiality walls when required.
  • Responding to internal inquiries related to conflicts and risk protocols.
  • Ensuring compliance with internal policies, professional conduct rules, and regulatory obligations.
  • Maintaining accurate and complete conflict records in firm systems (Intapp Conflicts).

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary diploma or equivalent experience in a legal, accounting, or professional services environment.
  • 1–3 years of relevant experience in a conflicts, intake, or risk management role (legal industry experience preferred).
  • Experience with systems such as 3E, Elite Enterprise, Aderant, Intapp Conflicts, Intapp Intake considered an asset.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and critical thinking skills.
  • Sound judgment and ability to problem solve.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy, particularly when working under pressure.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast paced environment.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
