We are currently seeking a Configuration Management / Data Management (CM / DM) Specialist to perform all applicable configuration management activities. The role acts as an interface between the CM department and the overall organization, ensuring compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements related to Planning & Management, Identification, Change Management, Status Accounting, Verification, and Audit. The CM / DM will manage both prototype and production documentation between Engineering and Manufacturing on a day-to-day basis.
Responsibilities
- Manage the core CM process and represent the CM department within and outside the organization.
- Ensure adherence to CM policies.
- Develop and update CM process standards, policies, process plans, and procedures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide tailored CM solutions to support business requirements.
- Coordinate Configuration Control Boards (CCB) for various programs, including processing submissions to the Configuration Management Change Request (CMCR) system, creating meeting agendas, running CCB meetings, and distributing minutes.
- Communicate within and outside the organization to explain and influence policy and process changes, and improve business systems.
- Lead the CM Business Supporting group to enhance PLM and ERP tools to meet current needs.
- Develop customer CM plans and prepare configuration deliverables.
- Create and manage standard CM plans.
- Update CM policies to reflect evolving business needs.
- Review customer requests during Bid & Proposal processes to ensure CM compliance and support estimates.
- Create and manage the yearly CM budget plan.
- Assess staffing needs for CM and communicate with Engineering Management.
- Publish CM metrics quarterly.
- Perform document assessments supporting Global Trade Compliance, ensuring proper documentation marking and compliance.
Requirements
- Post-secondary education in a technical discipline or equivalent work experience in Configuration Management.
- Five or more years of experience in Configuration and/or Data Management in aerospace, defense, or similar industries.
- Ability to read engineering drawings, sketches, schematics, and procedures.
- Knowledge of configuration management practices, specifically MIL-STD-973 or ANSI/EIA-649, is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
- Experience with Product Data Management Systems or similar tools is an asset.
- High attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize work independently.
