Con-ed-Reach Ahead Program Educator

The Superior-Greenstone District School Board is thrilled to offer the 2025 Reach Ahead Program! This unique initiative provides Grade 8 students the opportunity to earn a high school credit before completing elementary school, giving them a valuable head start on their academic journey.

We are seeking educators to support this innovative program, which is an online teaching position, that supports students across the Superior-Greenstone District School Board. Hours will be after school hours March to June, followed by a culminating week, July 7th to 11th.

Position Details

Position: Reach Ahead Program Educator

Course Code: PAI1O Healthy Living and Individual and Small-Group Activities

Time Commitment:

  • 5 hours per week from March to June 2025 (after school hours)
  • 5 days of synchronous instruction from July 7-11, 2025

Delivery Mode: Online instruction with both synchronous and asynchronous components

About the Program

This course is designed to:

  • Foster a smooth transition from elementary to high school.
  • Promote essential lifelong wellness skills.
  • Explore topics such as physical fitness, teamwork, healthy decision-making, and strategies for maintaining a balanced lifestyle.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging lessons using a combination of synchronous and asynchronous methods.
  • Support and guide students in exploring course content.
  • Promote teamwork, healthy decision-making, and balanced lifestyles.
  • Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Requirements

  • Ontario Teaching Certification (OCT)
  • Experience teaching physical education or health is an asset
  • Strong communication and online facilitation skills
