We execute mining projects in North America and internationally and are part of a global contracting group. With offices in Saskatchewan, Ontario, and Nevada, Thyssen Mining is a leader in underground mine engineering and construction, including shaft sinking, mine development, mine production, and underground civil tunnelling.

We are seeking an energetic, detail-oriented individual to join our small, flexible IT team as a Computer Technician, based in Regina, SK, on a 1-year term.

The ideal candidate will maintain a positive attitude, work collaboratively with other IT personnel, and provide timely resolutions involving IT operations, mobile devices, networks, and other systems. They should have a strong technical background, be quick learners, and adaptable to shifting project needs.

Key skills include supporting our IT systems and users with minimal training, supporting both on-premises and cloud technologies such as Microsoft Windows, Active Directory, Office 365, Virtualization, networking, and security.

Reporting to the IT Manager, responsibilities include:

1. Being the first point of contact for issues involving IT operations, cloud computing, networking, mobile phones, cabling, hardware, or software.
2. Coordinating with site personnel.
3. Working independently without immediate supervision.
4. Monitoring and maintaining computer systems and networks.
5. Testing, installing, configuring, and deploying hardware and software.
6. Troubleshooting and diagnosing system issues.
7. Assisting staff with system setups and resolving issues.
8. Documenting processes and procedures.
9. Identifying efficient ways to perform tasks.

The ideal candidate will possess:

• At least 3 years of technical support experience and education.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities.
• IT certifications or a recognized technical diploma.
• Experience with Microsoft Office, O365 administration, servers, networking, cloud computing, hardware repair, software installations, laptops, PCs, and mobile devices.
• Willingness to travel periodically to remote minesites and offices across Canada and the US, complying with travel regulations.
