About the Role

The CNC Programmer will be responsible for writing and maintaining programs for CNC machines, ensuring the efficient production of high-quality parts. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of machining processes, CAD / CAM software, and CNC programming languages.

Job Description

Program Development :

  • Write, modify, and optimize CNC programs for a variety of machines, including lathes and mills (2 axis, 3 axis, 5 axis centers).
  • Utilize CAD / CAM software to create and simulate machining processes.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to develop accurate and efficient programs.

Machine Setup and Operation :

  • Collaborate with machinists and operators to set up CNC machines, ensuring proper alignment, calibration, and tooling.
  • Conduct test runs and adjust programs as necessary to achieve desired results.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to machine operation, tooling, and programming.

Quality Assurance :

  • Work closely with the quality control team to identify and resolve any discrepancies or defects.
  • Continuously monitor and improve machining processes to enhance quality and efficiency.

Documentation and Maintenance :

  • Maintain detailed records of CNC programs, setups, and tooling instructions.
  • Update and revise programs to reflect changes in design or production requirements.

Collaboration and Communication :

  • Work closely with team leads to ensure seamless integration of CNC programming with overall manufacturing processes.
  • Participate in project planning and contribute to process improvement initiatives.

Safety and Compliance :

  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and report potential safety hazards or violations.

Relevant Education, Experience, and Certifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a CNC Programmer for 3 axis machines. Experience with 4 th / 5 th axis programming
  • Familiar with the feeds and speeds of current stock removal practices for steel, aluminum, and commonly machined engineering plastics
  • Knowledge of Gibbs Cam
  • Working knowledge of Okuma and Fanuc controls
  • Interpret CAD drawings
  • Ability to setup and operate CNC machining centers
  • Considered Assets :
