About The Role

As a CNC Machinist you will program, using drawing files and packaged conversion software, set tools, prepare fixtures and jigs and machine precision components/parts that meet the engineered drawings in the time allotted by the Manufacturing Process Instruction, while observing Risk Assessment requirements as they apply to each operation or machine.

You will report to the Shop Supervisor and be located at our facility in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada.

Main Responsibilities

• Follow all Risk Assessment requirements for the equipment being used.
• Deliver acceptable parts in the time allowed.
• Support apprentices and CNC Operators in set up and operation of equipment.
• Offer advice to design group when requested.
• Recommend/adapt improvements in tools, processes and procedures.
• Manage part programme files complete with back up
• Contribute to Tool Box talks and other communications.
  
  

Qualifications

• Have a recognised Certification (Red Seal) and Trade as a Machinist required
• Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of file conversion software through practice or course completion.
• Have the skill to improvise and develop solutions to machine components with the condition and type of machine tool available.
• Demonstrate knowledge of safe handling of materials, machining practices, and identifying unsafe situations.
• Determine proper sequence of operations and machines to produce part.
• Design fixtures, tooling and experimental parts to meet special engineering needs.
