Job description

The Compressor Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing air compressors, gas compressors, and related equipment, including refrigeration and air conditioning systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background and experience with pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems, ensuring equipment operates efficiently to meet performance and safety standards. The role may require supporting a 24-hour emergency service on a rotating schedule.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Install, assemble, start, test, maintain, repair, troubleshoot, and overhaul air compressors, gas compressors, HVAC systems, and related components such as motors, controls, valves, condensers, humidifiers, and evaporators.
  • Calibrate, document performance, and maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs.
  • Ensure all tasks comply with safety regulations and standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to optimize equipment performance.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to customers.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Experience & Skills :

  • Minimum of 2 years hands-on experience with compressors, refrigeration, or mechanical systems.
  • Journeyman or third-level apprentice in refrigeration or air conditioning is highly desirable.
  • Proficient with mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic tools in HVAC and industrial equipment.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Valid driver’s license with ability to travel between sites (e.g., Brampton, Mississauga).
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varied conditions and on a rotating on-call schedule.

Physical Requirements :

  • Ability to lift/move heavy equipment, work in confined spaces, and operate in industrial environments.
  • Exposure to noise, dust, and temperature variations.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including on-call emergencies.

Compensation :

  • $38–$40/hour for technicians; $48–$50/hour for lead/supervisor roles.
  • Minimum 40 hours/week within GTA; overtime pay at 1.5x on Saturdays/evenings, 2.0x on Sundays/holidays.
  • $5,000 signing bonus; clawback clauses apply if leaving early.
