Job summary

Certarus Ltd. is seeking a Compression Technician to contribute to preventive and corrective maintenance, application, start-up, and commissioning of its CNG compression assets across Alberta.

The role involves dynamic field work, strict safety practices, and reporting using CMMS. The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years of field service compressor experience, familiarity with natural gas compression equipment, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3–5 years field service compressor experience.
• Natural Gas Compression knowledge and OEM training beneficial.
• Waukesha VGF and Ariel systems advantageous.
• Excellent organizational and technical communication skills; able to interact with a wide range of personalities.
• Positive, analytical, and safe work attitude.

Responsibilities

• Perform safe, consistent maintenance on permanent and portable CNG compression equipment.
• Inspect used parts and measure dimensional changes using calipers, micrometers, etc.
• Troubleshoot repetitive and intermittent performance issues at component level.
• Conduct broad electrical, PLC, and instrumentation troubleshooting when needed.
• Commissioning new and end-of-service inspections of compression assets.

Summary

Our Compression Technician will contribute to the preventive and corrective maintenance, application, start-up, and commissioning of Certarus’ CNG compression assets.

Schedule

• Daily regional travel between Certarus compressor sites within Alberta
• This position works 8 days on, 6 days off OR 14 days on, 14 days off with travel throughout Alberta - Rocky Mountain House, Fox Creek and Grande Prairie

Duties & Responsibilities

• The safe and consistent maintenance to the company’s permanent and portable CNG compression equipment
• Establishes changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts, using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments
• Troubleshoot repetitive and intermittent performance issues on component level equipment
• Broad electrical, PLC, and instrumentation troubleshooting when necessary
• Commissioning new & end service inspections of compression assets
• Contribute to maintaining an effective spares parts and materials inventory
• Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends and enter reports into CMMS
• Maintain CMMS (Computer Management Maintenance System) on a continuous basis
• Participate and support in maintenance program development
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
• Maintain a high level of equipment housekeeping

Requirements

• The best suited candidate will have a minimum of 3-5 years field service compressor experience
• Natural Gas Compression and additional OEM and industry training beneficial in lieu of experience
• Waukesha VGF, and Ariel systems would be an advantage
• Excellent organizational and technical communication skills, interpersonal skills, and an ability to influence and to deal tactfully with a wide range of personalities
• Exceptional work ethic with a positive, analytical, and safe work attitude
• Basic skills in the use of computer-based programs such as MS 365
