Job summary

Framestore Montreal is seeking a compositor for a 1-2 month contract to join our film-quality VFX team. Work with Lead VFX Supervisors to integrate 2D/3D and live-action elements, meeting deadlines while balancing creative and technical aspects.

You’ll need strong Nuke skills, familiarity with stereo compositing, color space knowledge, and collaboration with production teams. This role is based in Montreal and emphasizes hands-on problem solving and clear communication.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Compositing Supervisor and VFX Supervisor to define approach.
• Execute assigned shots from briefs and direction.
• Integrate 2D, 3D and live-action elements to high-end VFX standards.
• Meet schedules and show deadlines.
• Communicate with Production and Leads about timelines.
• Manage workload, time, and feedback.
• Balance creative and technical aspects; apply color space knowledge.

A multi Oscar-winning creative studio, we have worked with some of the greatest storytellers in film today. Compositors seamlessly integrate all the layers or elements of a shot, including live-action and computer graphic elements. Compositors work closely with Visual Effects Supervisors and CG Supervisors to composite the numerous elements that complete visual-effects shots.

What You’ll Do

• Work in collaboration with the Compositing Supervisor and Visual Effects Supervisor to evaluate the creative and technical approach to assigned shots
• Take briefs and direction from Lead Compositors and VFX Supervisors to execute assigned shots
• Integrate 2D, 3D and live action elements to high-end visual effects film standard
• Meeting schedules and show deadlines
• Ongoing communication with Production and Leads regarding schedules and deadlines
• Take responsibility for own workload, time management and notes/feedback actions required by Supervisors
• Balance the creative and technical aspects of each shot
• Work with a good knowledge of color space principles

Job Requirements

• An excellent working knowledge of and production experience with Nuke
• A familiarity with stereo compositing and working with multiple render passes
• Excellent organization, communication and interpersonal skills
• A pro-active and collaborative work ethic
• A strong eye for detail, composition, color and lighting
• The ability to multitask, prioritize and problem solve
• An understanding of color space principles
