Job summary

Reel FX Animation (Montreal) is seeking a Compositing Artist to render and composite layers into the final image, under supervision of the Compositing Supervisor. You will collaborate with the Director and Lead Compositor to achieve the correct mood, time of day, and color for each shot.

The role requires at least 1 year of experience, strong knowledge of nodal compositing systems, and a portfolio demonstrating photorealistic work, including CG integration into live-action footage.

Qualifications

• Portfolio reel showing photorealistic compositing including CG integration.

Responsibilities

• Render and composite image layers to create final look.

Job Summary

We’re excited to be back in our Montreal studio Tuesday thru Thursday… come join us! Under general supervision of the Compositing Supervisor this position is responsible for rendering layers, and compositing those layers to create the final image.

Responsibilities

• Perform technical work in support of shot compositing using a variety of tools.
• Partner with the Director, Lead Compositor and other staff to understand mood, time of day and color of the composition.
• Follow the creative direction of the production from a compositing standpoint as communicated by the Supervisor.
• Identify to the Supervisor problems that compositing could potentially present with respect to timelines and delivery schedules.
• Performing compositing operations with the rendered layers created, including overall look and feel, color correction, extractions, rotoscoping, and other compositing effects as needed.
• Integrate CG elements into live-action plates/elements .
• Work with surfacing, look development, and lighting artists to ensure materials respond convincingly under compositing integration.

Qualifications

• Degree/diploma in fine arts or equivalent experience
• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Compositing Artist (or equivalent)
• Thorough knowledge of high-end compositing software, Katana, Nuke
• Strong demonstration of composition and color
• Thorough knowledge of node based compositing systems
• Demonstrable ability to communicate creative and technical thoughts and ideas
• A portfolio or reel demonstrating photorealistic compositing, including CG integration into live-action footage where relevant.
• Familiarity with linear workflows and color management, including ACES/OCIO. This job description is not meant to be all inclusive.
