Position: Compliance Manager
Are you a Quality Manager in an IDD setting looking for a change?
The Chief Compliance Officer oversees the Agency's compliance with governing bodies such as OCFS, NYSED, ORR, and JC. The CCO is responsible for establishing standards and implementing procedures to ensure adherence to federal and state regulations throughout the organization.
The Compliance Manager is responsible for:
- Ensuring regulations are followed by conducting regular observations, assessing staff competencies, audits/checks, and supporting worksite directors in following up on recommendations and corrections.
- Reviewing program documentation for accuracy and punctuality to ensure compliance with Medicaid, OCFS, JC, ORR, SED regulations, and agency policies.
- Observing and questioning staff and directors to ensure they are knowledgeable about their duties, Fire Safety, Individual Outcomes, and Safeguards for individuals.
- Participating in State and Federal audits and maintaining professional relationships with audit teams.
- Keeping abreast of new and changing regulations and sharing this information with relevant programs.
- Completing Justice Center Investigations and necessary follow-up documentation (CAPS, Health and Safety Assessment).
- Providing compliance guidance balancing regulatory requirements, risk mitigation, and business objectives.
Skills and Abilities Required:
- Fluent in English, with excellent communication skills.
- Ability to perform complex, comprehensive work with sound judgment.
- Ability to evaluate facts, interpret results, and make recommendations.
- Providing direction and oversight, guiding the team in assessing control deficiencies, and developing remediation plans.
- Maintaining the annual compliance risk assessment.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record; ability to drive agency vehicles.
- Using sound judgment while following agency policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Administration, Law, or Social Services.
- At least one year of experience working with compliance in OPWDD, OCFS, or JC.
- Experience with law, or relevant experience as a Law Degree holder or detective related to children and family is preferred.
