The Opportunity

Are you passionate about regulatory excellence and making a meaningful impact in the insurance industry Medavie Blue Cross is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Compliance Advisor to champion our compliance frameworks and ensure we meetand exceedregulatory standards.

This is your opportunity to become a trusted advisor and subject matter expert guiding our teams through the evolving landscape of insurance regulations licensing and complaint resolution.

What Youll Be Doing

As a key member of our compliance team youll :

Lead regulatory compliance efforts by developing and maintaining expertise in insurance regulations and creating programs to monitor adherence.

Enhance our 2nd Line of Defense through effective monitoring and testing programs that ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory controls.

Manage escalated complaints both service-related and conduct-relatedby investigating tracking and reporting outcomes.

Drive transparency by preparing trend analyses quarterly reports and presentations for leadership.

Oversee licensing requirements and ensure timely completion of corporate obligations.

Maintain our Regulatory Compliance Management System and coordinate annual anti-money laundering training.

Represent Medavie Blue Cross on key industry committees including CLHIA and Blue Cross Life.

What You Bring to the Table

Education & Experience :

Post-secondary diploma or degree in Business Administration or a related fieldor equivalent experience.

35 years of experience in compliance risk management or regulatory affairs ideally within the insurance or financial services industry.

Investigative background with proven ability to conduct thorough investigations analyze findings and support resolution of complex issues.

Practical experience in complaint resolution regulatory reporting and compliance monitoring.

Skills & Attributes :

Strong knowledge of insurance licensing and Canadian regulatory requirements (e.g. OSFI CLHIA) considered an asset.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex regulations and develop actionable solutions.

Clear and confident communicator capable of presenting findings and recommendations to diverse audiences.

High attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and reporting.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with compliance management systems or GRC platforms is an asset.

Commitment to ongoing professional development (e.g. LOMA certification).

Bilingualism (English / French) is a strong asset.
