About The Role

The Learning Support Teacher (LST) plays a key role in fostering equitable, inclusive, and responsive classroom environments. Working collaboratively with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams, the LST supports differentiated instruction, assessment, and regulation strategies to promote the academic achievement, well-being, and full participation of all students.

Support To Staff

• Collaborate with classroom teachers to plan and implement inclusive, flexible, and differentiated instruction aligned with Universal Design for Learning.
• Assist in adapting curriculum and materials to meet diverse student needs.
• Guide and support Learning Assistants in promoting student independence, inclusion, and peer connection.
• Advise on strategies to enhance student engagement, regulation, and sense of belonging.
  
  

Program Planning & Coordination

• Facilitate the development and implementation of Individual Support Plans (ISPs), Safety and Regulation Support Plans (SRSPs), and other student-specific plans.
• Conduct Level B assessments and assist with interpreting and applying the results to inform instruction and supports.
• Support the completion of EAL benchmarks and early learning documentation.
• Collaborate with school leadership to identify and respond to building-wide student needs.
  
  

Communication & Collaboration

• Liaise with families, school staff, and external agencies to coordinate appropriate student supports and access to resources.
• Support transition planning across grades, at points of school entry and exit, and into adult life.
• Participate in collaborative team meetings to gather and share student information that informs programming and intervention strategies.
  
  

This role will be required to work additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications And Skills

• Bachelor of Education required
• Temporary or permanent teaching authority (new graduates please refer to )
• Competent in the use of technology (Power School, Interactive Boards, Google and Microsoft Suite)
