The Cochrane Temiskaming Resource Centre (CTRC) is seeking a Residential Counselor to join its team in Porcupine. CTRC is a regional Developmental Services provider offering programs across the Districts of Temiskaming and Cochrane, including coastal communities along James and Hudson Bay. The successful candidate will work in a community residential home offering supports to individuals with Developmental Disabilities. Supports include providing assistance with activities of daily living, leisure, recreational, interpersonal interactions, medical, and personal care. Residential Counsellors work collaboratively with team members including Assistant Residential Counsellors, a Registered Nurse, Psychological and Speech Services Staff, and Client Support Workers. They report to a Residential Supervisor.
Part-Time employees are offered a defined pension plan with the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP) and are eligible from hire date to join the plan. Extended Health Benefits (80% of drug costs), Life Insurance ($25,000), Dental ($1,500/year), Vision ($225/24 months), para-medical coverage ($300/practitioner), and travel insurance are provided, with all premiums paid by the employer. Flexible shifts (e.g., 2-4-6-8-10-12 hours during a 24-hour period).
Part-Time Employees may be scheduled up to 56 hours every 2 weeks and may accept extra shifts offered. Shift premiums include an extra $0.60/hr. for evening shifts, $0.65/hr. for night shifts, and $0.32/hr. on Saturdays and Sundays, with premiums paid for evening and night shifts. Overtime is paid after a daily limit of 12 hours. Personal Emergency Days are provided as per ESA and Collective Agreement.
Applicants must possess a Developmental Service Worker Diploma, Child and Youth Worker Program Diploma (with pharmacology course), or a Practical Nurse Program Diploma. An updated Standard First Aid certificate (including Heart Saver CPR) and CPI, or willingness to obtain these, are necessary. A valid G class driver’s license is also required. Bilingualism is an asset. Double vaccination against Covid-19 is mandatory.
Individuals with a Personal Support Worker (PSW) certificate with pharmacology may apply and work as Residential Counsellor (Underfill).
RC Wage: $30.26-31.19
(+ 4.5% - 5.5% - 6% in lieu of vacation paid twice annually + 1% in lieu of benefits paid each pay period)
RC - Underfill Wage: $29.28-30.17
(+ 4.5% - 5.5% - 6% in lieu of vacation paid twice annually + 1% in lieu of benefits paid each pay period)
