Job summary

Altis in Toronto is seeking a Specialist, Compensation to join our Total Rewards team. You will lead the annual compensation processes, partner with HR and executives, and help shape compensation programs for a large workforce across Canada.

This role offers a hybrid work model with on-site days, exposure to market benchmarking, pay equity initiatives, and opportunities to influence strategic decisions across the business.

Qualifications

  • 3–6+ years of compensation or Total Rewards experience.
  • Experience supporting annual compensation cycles including salary reviews and incentives.
  • Knowledge of market pricing, job evaluation, and benchmarking.
  • Proficient Excel with large datasets (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP).
  • Experience with SAP, SuccessFactors or other HRIS is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • You'll lead key components of the annual compensation cycle including salary reviews, bonus programs, and reporting.
  • You'll perform market pricing, compensation benchmarking, job evaluation, salary structure maintenance, and market position analysis across Canadian and U.S. employee groups.
  • You'll prepare, analyze, and present compensation data using advanced Excel while developing reports and presentations for HR and business leaders.
  • You'll partner with stakeholders across HR and the business to provide compensation insights and support informed decision-making.
  • You'll contribute to ongoing compensation projects, including pay equity analysis, compliance initiatives, process improvements, and Total Rewards documentation.

Your Responsibilities
  • You'll lead key components of the annual compensation cycle, including salary reviews, incentive planning, compensation summaries, and reporting.
  • You'll perform market pricing, compensation benchmarking, job evaluation, salary structure maintenance, and market position analysis across Canadian and U.S. employee groups.
  • You'll prepare, analyze, and validate compensation data using advanced Excel while developing reports and presentations for HR and business leaders.
  • You'll partner with stakeholders across HR and the business to provide compensation insights and support informed decision-making.
  • You'll contribute to ongoing compensation projects, including pay equity analysis, compliance initiatives, process improvements, and Total Rewards documentation.
Skills and Qualifications
  • 3–6+ years of progressive, hands‑on compensation or Total Rewards experience, with depth of experience valued over tenure.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting or owning annual compensation cycles, including salary reviews, bonus programs, and long-term incentives.
  • Strong knowledge of compensation principles, market pricing, job evaluation, salary benchmarking, and Canadian compensation legislation, particularly Ontario Pay Equity.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, with the ability to analyze large datasets.
  • Experience using compensation survey providers such as Mercer or WTW is highly desirable.
  • Experience with SAP, SuccessFactors, or other HRIS platforms is considered an asset.
  • Excellent communication, relationship‑building, and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to present compensation information to leaders across the organization.
