Halifax Water is Atlantic Canadas largest water utility providing integrated water wastewater and stormwater utility for more than 106000 customers daily. Through our One Team - One Water approach our more than 550 dedicated employees provide essential water services to an estimated 383000 people in HALIFAX.

We are currently hiring for a Compensation and Benefits Specialist . This regular full-time opportunity in the People & Culture Department.

As a Compensation and Benefits Specialist you will :

  • Be responsible for the overall administration of all compensation and benefits related functions including :

Group Insurance Plans and other Group Benefits

  • Long Term Disability applications
  • Pension and payroll applications
  • Ensure consistency in application
  • Maintain the HRIS system
  • Ensure data integrity and confidentiality
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with employees at all levels
  • Communicate and deliver various HR programs and initiatives
  • Provide a variety of human resource generalist functions as may be required.

To do this job you need to have :

  • A university degree in a related field
  • Ideally hold a PLP designation from Canadian Payroll Association - National Payroll Institute or be willing to obtain.
  • Minimum of two years previous related work experience in a unionized work environment (preferable within a municipal or regional government setting)
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel.
