Reporting to the Compensation Lead, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining job evaluation systems and compensation programs that align with enterprise business goals and objectives. You will act as a key advisor at an enterprise-wide level and serve as a specialist resource to HR and leadership on compensation-related matters and participate in compensation initiatives. You will also play a key role in conducting research and analysis for various compensation activities including market benchmarking analyses, wage & salary administration, and compensation practices.
- Lead the development, maintenance, and implementation of job evaluation systems to ensure fair, transparent, and consistent job classifications and compensation recommendations across the enterprise.
- Conduct thorough analysis of job evaluations, determining the relative worth and placement of positions within the compensation structure using established methodologies.
- Provide advice and consultation to HR and senior management on job evaluation and compensation-related matters.
- Oversee and report on compensation measures and provide recommendations to management to address issues, concerns and opportunities for improvement.
- Lead and/or participate in the development or improvement of section initiatives to modernize compensation systems, practices, and policies.
- Participate and/or facilitate job evaluation committees to ensure transparency, equity and consistency in job evaluation and classification.
- Participate in other section activities including compensation surveys, policy review and recommendation, business planning and compensation related special projects.
- Develop, maintain, and deliver communication plans to promote understanding of compensation programs and practices at Manitoba Hydro.
- Carry out compensation analyses to support effective decision-making and interpret the results and trends, including optimization of HR compensation processes.
- Research and provide information regarding changes in relevant legislation and best practices/programs related to compensation. Recommend new and/or updated programs and manage implementation of program changes.
- Participate in and contribute to the development of tools, workshops, and reference material that increase capability for making informed Total Reward decisions.
- Maintain accurate records of job evaluation activities and outcomes.
- Bachelor of Commerce Degree (HR Major) and five years of related experience or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
- Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation and/or Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) is an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to research, evaluate and develop new programs or recommendations using creative and innovative approaches to problem solving.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with developing and/or managing compensation and/or job evaluation programs and projects.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and problem-solving ability.
- Proven ability to handle confidential or sensitive information appropriately and exercise good judgment in working with various levels of an organization.
- Possess initiative and sound judgment with ability to make and implement decisions independently and within a team environment.
- Excellent computer skills with thorough knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $43.44 - $59.95 Hourly / $83,247.84 - $114,870.60 Annually.
