LOCATION: Hybrid Model* – when onsite, report to City Hall

SALARY GRADE: 6

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $100,277.00 - $112,812.00 per annum

MAXIMUM SALARY: $125,346.00 per annum

Area of Responsibility

Reporting to the Manager, Compensation and Benefits, this position provides consultation, advice, and technical guidance on compensation matters, focusing on policy enhancement, service delivery, streamlining, technology, and documentation. Supports modernization projects and process improvements in program development, assessment, needs analysis, redesign, and employee engagement.

  1. Program Consultation: Provide services to internal staff, ensure standards are met, support urgent needs, represent the section, develop best practices, and recommend policy modifications.
  2. Maintains Relationships: Work with staff and vendors, manage relationships, negotiate, promote positive communication, and support project implementation and process improvements.
  3. Project Management: Lead and participate in strategic projects, develop and implement policies, review practices, and recommend improvements.
  4. Business Partner: Establish HR working groups, engage stakeholders, analyze issues, and provide strategic advice for business solutions.
  5. Needs Analysis & Continuous Improvement: Review and improve compensation programs, incorporate technology, monitor market trends, and communicate changes.
Selection Criteria

Education

  • Post-secondary degree in Business Administration/Human Resources or related, with courses in compensation and benefits.
  • CHRP designation is an asset.

Experience

  • 3-5 years in a consultative compensation role.
  • 2-3 years supervisory experience is an asset.

Skills & Assets

  • Financial acumen, project leadership, consulting skills, proficiency in MS Office and HR systems, knowledge of legislation, and excellent communication skills.
