Job summary

County of Simcoe is seeking a Housekeeping/Laundry Aide (SEIU Service) for a permanent call-in/casual position in Beeton, Ontario. The role focuses on general housekeeping and laundry tasks to support residents of a long-term care facility.

Qualifications

• Completion of grade 11 or equivalent.
• Ability to pass reading and comprehension assessment.
• Knowledge of housekeeping and laundry equipment.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions and communicate with residents and staff.
• Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening within 6 months.
• TB testing documentation as per Public Health requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform all general housekeeping / laundry duties as required.
• Deep cleaning and disinfecting of requested areas or rooms as required.
• Deliver and distribute personal clothing to resident rooms.
• Pick up and deliver exchange linen/personals carts and soiled bins.
• Assist with waste management processes.
• Assists with orientation of new staff.
• Active role in the infection control program per PIDAC.
• Assist in implementing quality management mechanisms e.g., home audits.
• Participate in committees as required.
• Attend in-service education sessions, staff meetings, committee meetings, workshops, etc., as directed.
• Promotes resident safety and follows safe work practices.
• Acts as a member of the inter-disciplinary team within the Home.
• Uses electronic systems provided effectively.
• Performs other duties including redeployment in emergencies.
• Complies with legislation, policies, and procedures.
• Works in accordance with OHSA and Long Term Care Homes Act.
