Job summary

Optima Living in Victoria, BC invites applications for a Server role in our dining services. You will provide courteous meal service to residents and guests, set up and maintain dining areas, and ensure cleanliness before, during, and after meals.

Reporting to the Food Services, Support Services or Hospitality Manager, you will work Monday to Friday 8:15 AM to 1:15 PM, following food safety standards and contributing to person-centered care with dignity and respect.

Qualifications

• Experience in a food services role is an asset.
• Knowledge of safe food handling and sanitation practices is required.
• CPR and First Aid certification is an asset.
• Food Safe certification is an asset.
• Ability to communicate professionally and maintain respectful relationships with residents, team members, volunteers and visitors.

Responsibilities

• Serves meals and beverages to residents according to their dietary restrictions and individual preferences while encouraging independent feeding.
• Sets up, cleans and sanitizes the dining room and servery prior to and after meal service.
• Sets up, serves and cleans dining areas during special events, large orders and catered functions as needed.
• Interacts with residents to take meal orders and answer menu questions.
• Provides tray services according to the care or service plan.
• Prepares and serves a variety of beverages, including freshly brewed coffee and tea.
• Stores food in designated areas following all food safety and sanitation procedures.
