Job summary

Cogir Senior Living in Ontario is seeking an Assistant Cook to prepare and deliver meals for residents, guests and employees under the Culinary Manager.

You will review menus, follow standardized recipes and production charts, respect dietary needs, and maintain food safety with daily temperature audits. Qualifications include a Food Handler's Certificate, VPS within 6 months, and healthcare cooking experience.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Food Handler's Certificate.
• Red Seal Certificate preferred.
• Experience in large quantity food preparation, preferably in a healthcare or retirement setting.
• Knowledge of Provincial Food Premises Regulation and Canada's Food Guide to Healthy Eating.
• Knowledge of special and therapeutic diets.
• Physically able to lift and transfer heavy items and stand for long periods.
• Second language skills are an asset.
• Vulnerable Position/Sector Screening within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver meals for residents, guests and employees.
• Review menus and production sheets; follow recipes and serve attractively.
• Ensure proper food handling techniques and perform daily temperature audits.
• Prepare meals for therapeutic/special diets and record substitutions.
• Adhere to service times, production charts and budget.
• Comply with all regulations and dietary department procedures.
• Participate in special meals and staff training sessions.
• Respect Resident Rights and support Quality Improvement programs.
