Job summary

Home Instead in Courtenay, BC is seeking compassionate Care Professionals for part-time, casual shifts to support older adults at home. You will provide companionship, personal care, mobility assistance, medication reminders, and help with everyday tasks.

Paid training and ongoing support from a local team are provided. Requirements include English fluency, a valid driver's license, CPR/First Aid, and a TB test; caregiving experience is welcome but not required.

Qualifications

• TB skin test required with acceptable results.
• Valid CPR and First Aid certification.
• Fluency in spoken and written English.
• A valid driver's licence, reliable vehicle, and current automobile insurance.
• Previous caregiving experience is an asset but not required.

Responsibilities

• Personal care including bathing, dressing, grooming, and continence support.
• Safe mobility assistance, transfers, repositioning, and fall-prevention support.
• Medication reminders and observation of changes in condition.
• Dementia and Alzheimer's care with patience and person-centred approaches.
• Meal planning and preparation based on dietary needs and preferences.
• Companionship and emotional support.
• Assistance with light housekeeping and maintaining a safe home environment.
• Transportation to appointments and running errands.
• Clear documentation and timely communication with the office team.
• Respect for client dignity, independence, privacy, and choices.
