Job summary

Fraser Health Authority in Mission, BC is hiring a Health Care Assistant to provide person-centered care in residential settings. You will support daily living activities, assist with dining, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to implement care plans.

The role requires Grade 10 and completion of a recognized HCA program, Food Safety Level 1, and strong communication; the package includes four weeks vacation, health benefits, and a pension plan.

Qualifications

• Able to communicate effectively in writing and conversation.
• Experience supporting residents in activities of daily living.
• Ability to follow care plans and report changes to the team.

Responsibilities

• Follow established care plans to assist with activities of daily living.
• Participate in organization and delivery of leisure activities per care plan.
• Encourage family involvement and 1:1 activities as appropriate.
• Observe changes in residents and document observations for the team.
• Assist with measurements (temperature/weight) and collect specimens as directed.
• Use lifts, wheelchairs, and stretchers to transfer residents safely.
• Provide light food preparation and dining assistance.
• Welcome new residents and orient them to the facility.
• Attend team meetings and contribute to care program discussions.
• Maintain equipment and report safety hazards.
