Job summary

Excel Society is seeking a Health Care Aide for the Baldwin Villa site in Edmonton, AB. The role involves providing care within health care competencies and coordinating with the care team to meet physical, emotional, and cultural needs of clients.

Responsibilities include respectful communication with clients and families, maintaining client dignity, ensuring infection control, and documenting daily status. Certification in HCA, First Aid/CPR Level C, and a clean criminal record are required.

Qualifications

• HCA certificate from an approved institution.
• Current First Aid and CPR Level C certification.
• Satisfactory criminal record check.

Responsibilities

• Provide care within Health Care Competencies.
• Refer clients to appropriate health care team members for information beyond the worker's role.
• Demonstrate respectful communication and build rapport with clients and families.
• Assist with physical, mental, emotional, psychosocial, and cultural needs using active listening.
• Support teamwork and clear communication within the care team.
• Check equipment for defects and report issues; follow infection control and safety procedures.
• Recognize hazards and follow fire and electrical safety guidelines.
• Learn client needs and monitor/report client status.
• Encourage client health, help maintain a clean, safe home environment.
• Respect confidentiality, privacy, independence, well-being, and choice.
• Identify and report signs of client abuse.
• Document changes and complete daily shift charting.
