Job summary

L'Arche welcomes Assistants to live, work, and learn together with adults with developmental disabilities in our communities. We strive to shape a more human and just society by offering people of different abilities an experience of companionship, community, and belonging.

We're looking to welcome a Community Support Worker to support people with developmental disabilities in a group home. This is a casual position.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent is required.
• Acceptable Police Information Check that includes the Vulnerable Sector Check is required.
• Certificate in Community Support Work, Disability Studies, Health Care Aide, or related field is preferred.
• Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Build respectful and mutual relationships with Core Members, listening with empathy and providing encouragement.
• Develop and implement Individual Support Plans (ISPs) and behavioral support plans.
• Assist Core Members in daily living activities, personal care, medication, and safety.
• Support Core Members in decision-making to maximize choices and participation.
• Maintain accurate documentation across financial, medical, logs, medications, and incident reports.
• Help Core Members access community resources and accompany them on outings.
• Fulfill other duties to support Core Members and the home/community.

Education

Grade 12 or equivalent

Certificate in Community Support Work, Disability Studies, Health Care Aide, or related field

Driver's license
