Job summary

Spectrum Health Care is hiring casual Companions to support clients in the York service region. In this role, you will assist clients with household tasks and provide companionship, enabling seniors to live independently at home. Ideal candidates are compassionate and able to interact courteously with clients. A valid police check and TB test are required.

We are currently hiring casual Companions at $ to support our York service region including Markham, Woodbridge, Thornhill, Richmond Hill, Aurora, Keswick, Georgina, East Gwillimbury, Mount Albert, Bradford, Concord, King City, Kleinburg, Maple, Pickering, Ajax, Whitby, and Oshawa. In this role, you will help clients with basic household tasks such as meal preparation, light housekeeping, and respite, enabling seniors to continue living at home.

Job Description

1. Provide companionship and basic household tasks for medically stable patients under the supervision of a Home Support Supervisor.
2. Perform basic meal preparation and light housekeeping duties such as washing dishes, taking out the garbage, and doing client’s laundry. Sweeping and vacuuming within the client’s immediate living area may be required.
3. Provide respite for medically stable patients while the primary caregiver is away.
4. Maintain awareness of the patient’s abilities, current diagnosis, diet, personal interests, and special needs.
5. Travel within the assigned region between patients’ residences or facilities is required.

Qualifications

1. Compassionate individual with a passion for helping others.
2. Ability to interact with others in a caring, courteous, and tactful manner.
3. Ability to speak other languages is considered an asset (Cantonese and Tamil).
4. Valid Vulnerable Sector Police Check and TB Test (within 6 months) are required as a condition of employment.
