Job summary

YMCA of Central New York, Inc. seeks a reliable Janitor to support the mission by maintaining safe, clean, and welcoming YMCA facilities. Under the Facilities Director, you will help ensure safety, sanitation, and organization of buildings and grounds, adhering to YMCA policies and procedures.

You will perform general cleaning, minor repairs, restrooms, fitness areas, and snow removal as needed, participate in trainings, and model the YMCA core values in daily interactions with staff and members.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Knowledge of safety hazards and proper use of cleaning and sanitizing solutions.
• Detail-oriented and thorough.
• Ability to perform basic repairs and operate tools or equipment used in routine maintenance.
• Ability to keep the facility/assigned area clean and orderly.
• Ability to interact with staff, members, participants, and visitors while remaining professional, polite, and courteous.

Responsibilities

• Models the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
• Maintains a clean and orderly facility and grounds.
• Performs general cleaning and janitorial duties in the common areas.
• Performs minor repairs and maintenance.
• Ensures safety procedures and emergency responses are followed.
