Qualifications

  • Experience in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Current First Aid & CPR certification.
  • Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License.

The Burnaby Association for Community Inclusion (BACI) is a community living organization that supports people with developmental disabilities across the lifespan to live a ‘good life.’ Our Community Inclusion (Day Program) is seeking a Community Support Worker to assist individuals in pursuing community activities based on their interests, gifts, and goals. This role helps individuals become active community members, discovering and engaging with places of belonging.

Position Details
  • Position: Regular Part-Time Community Support Worker
  • Location: Community Based
  • Salary: $25.95/hour
  • Hours: 23 hours/week
  • Schedule: Monday, Tuesday & Thursday (9:30 am - 3:30 pm) and Friday (10 am - 3 pm)
Responsibilities
  • Support individuals in one-to-one settings.
  • Ensure individuals stay connected with friends and family.
  • Provide opportunities for individuals to make meaningful choices.
  • Encourage and recognize individuals' contributions.
  • Ensure individuals' safety and promote their health and well-being.
  • Assist individuals in gaining knowledge and experiences to enhance independence and community participation.
Qualifications
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience and training related to autism, medical needs, and challenging behaviors is an asset.
  • Knowledge of alternative communication systems is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Person-Centered Thinking and Planning is preferred.
  • Proficiency with computers and mobile apps is necessary.

Additional Qualifications

Graduation from a Community College with an appropriate diploma or certificate in Human Services or equivalent education and experience. Current First Aid & CPR certification, TB screening, and a valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License are required.
