Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Toronto is seeking a Sports Specialist to lead and coordinate Child, Youth, and Family programs and Adult Sports, fostering community connection and active living. You will engage members, coach leagues, and help deliver high-quality experiences aligned with YMCA standards.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in Recreation Leadership, kinesiology, or equivalent experience preferred.
• Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Level C or Intermediate First Aid and CPR Level C before first day of work.
• Sports Coach Certification is strongly preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of experience coaching children in a sports setting.
• Demonstrated coaching and development skills.
• Excellent written communication skills.
• Well-developed interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
• Flexible regarding shifts.
• Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct program leadership to Child, Youth, Family programs and Adult Recreational Sports.
• Provide leadership and coaching to YMCA Leagues and ensure quality indicators are met.
• Act as a member of the Centres' senior staff team and serve as Service Leader as required.
• Coach and develop participants and teams for growth and success.
• Build relationships with members and educate about YMCA as a charity.
• Manage program areas to allocate space for each group.
• Handle League administrative responsibilities as assigned.
• Assist with scheduling and logistics of Adult Recreational Sports and Child/Youth/Family programs.
• Support the Manager in setting short- and long-term goals for programs.
