Position Summary

We're on the lookout for a dedicated and culturally aware social worker who's ready to make a real difference in children's lives. You'll be working in rural and Indigenous communities, where compassion, resilience, and flexibility are key. This isn't just a job - it's a chance to be part of something bigger.

As a Community Social Services Worker in the Tlicho Region, you'll play a vital leadership role in supporting children, youth, families, and foster/adoptive caregivers. You'll guide foster and adoption programs, respond to child protection concerns, and build strong community ties ' all while making a real difference every single day.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

Foster Care & Adoption Support

• Provide leadership and guidance to social service workers
• Help find the best placements for children and youth
• Liaise with foster homes and group home providers
• Support foster parents with training, advice, and annual reviews

Community & Caregiver Engagement

• Identify training needs and organize opportunities to build caregiving skills
• Participate in awareness events like National Adoption Month
• Advocate for safe, inclusive practices across all placements

Program Planning & Oversight

• Collect data, track placement stats, and recommend resource improvements
• Evaluate the effectiveness of care programs and suggest changes
• Help develop policies, manuals, and operational standards
• Collaborate with supervisors to assess special needs and set appropriate care rates

Child Protection Work

• Respond to reported concerns within 24 hours
• Investigate protection reports and implement care plans
• Coordinate court processes and documentation
• Maintain detailed physical and electronic case files

Regional Program Development

• Lead recruitment campaigns for foster and adoptive families
• May receive training and be asked to step in for child protection services as needed
