Location: London, ON (Home-Based)

Compensation: $17.20/hr

We are seeking a mission-driven Community Service Worker, Vision Mates, passionate about creating accessible, inclusive, and equitable communities in Canada where individuals with low vision can thrive without barriers or discrimination.

Your Impact at CNIB

  • Assist with onboarding volunteers and coordinate volunteer activities.
  • Maintain and manage a database/tracking system of volunteer activity.
  • Provide support to participants and volunteers regularly.
  • Assess participants' eligibility for Home-Based Support Programs.
  • Participate as a fully integrated member of the Ontario West Foundation team with occasional travel within London.
  • Communicate professionally in writing and verbally with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Liaise with volunteers, participants, and staff effectively.
  • Work independently and collaboratively across departments.

Requirements

Who you are:

  • Degree or diploma in a related field, or equivalent work experience.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Knowledge of volunteer management and social services is an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Creative problem-solving skills.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to travel within London via public transit, car, or rideshare (Uber, etc.).
  • Experience related to blindness and sight loss is an asset.
  • Experience with assistive technology or accessible environments is an asset.

Eligibility

This position is funded through Canada Summer Jobs. To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment.
  • Be Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or have refugee status in Canada.
  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada according to provincial or territorial laws. International students are not eligible; recent immigrants are eligible if they are citizens or permanent residents.
