The Developmental Disabilities Association (DDA) is a leading employer in BC’s social services sector. Job Title: COMMUNITY SERVICE WORKER (6 Positions) | #1975
Service Area: Vocational & Community ServicesLocation:Vancouver, BC
Start Date:May 05, 2025 (ending August 22, 2025)
Term/Status: Temporary FullTime
Schedule/Hours: Monday to Friday 7:30-15:00 // 30.00 - 37.50 hours per week
*Shift times may vary slightly as this position is subject to funding.
Hourly Wage:
$22.00 as per collective agreement

The Role:

DDA’s day programs provide supportive group programs and activities for Adults with diverse abilities. The goal of our community inclusive day programs is to provide an environment that supports each participant’s personal goals; supporting individuals to gain greater independence and quality of life through participation in community based social, recreation, and vocational experiences. Community service workers will assist in the enrichment of the day programs services. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to plan and lead recreational programming while assisting with activities of daily living. Our day program services meet client needs through in-person on-site services, virtual classes, and community outreach. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge and gain valuable work experience within a well-established support team.

*This position is subject to funding by Canada summer jobs. Position is conditional based on approval of application request by Service Canada.

Requirements/Education/Experience:

  • Post-secondary education or training in related fields is an asset (Community support worker, Kinesiology, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation, Nursing Education)
  • Must be between ages of 18 - 30 at intake time, legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Working knowledge or experience with people in the area of life skills, recreation, or/and leisure.
  • Criminal Record Clearance
  • Medical Clearance
  • Demonstrated competency in English
  • Basic computer literacy – (asset) expertise in the development of online class content and implementation
  • Must be Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold Refugee status
