Job summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a Community Services support role to assist in a Ministry Unit’s activities and provide general administrative help.

You will work on planned community programs, greet visitors, support receptions, and assist during events while maintaining strict confidentiality and following program policies. A year of related experience and a willingness to obtain background checks are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Completion of some high school coursework is required.
  • CPR, First Aid and Non-Violent Crisis Training or willingness to complete once hired.
  • Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion.

Responsibilities

  • Support pre-planned program activities for the community (food bank, crafts, sports, games, music, homework stations, Bible-based devotions, community church, meetings).
  • Work in a team setting supporting various tasks and activities.
  • Provide general administrative support greeting visitors, supporting reception, and forwarding visitors.

  • Adhere to policies and procedures relating to the programs.

Job Description
POSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY

This position will provide general support to various services in the Community and Family Services setting of a Ministry Unit.

ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • As directed, support pre-planned program activities for the community (food bank, crafts, sports, games, music, homework stations, Bible-based devotions, community church, meetings etc.).
  • Work in a team setting supporting various tasks and activities.
  • Provide general administrative support greeting visitors, supporting reception, forwarding visitors, etc.
  • Provide general assistance during public relations events and regular campaigns.
  • Maintain strict confidentially of all matters pertaining to the program participants.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures relating to the programs.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • The incumbent's work environment is typically in an office environment.
  • May be required to move/lift up to 30 pounds.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
  • Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army's health and safety policies and procedures.

Alternative combination of education and Experience may be considered.

Education, Qualifications and Certifications
  • Completion of some high school course work is required.
  • CPR, First Aid and Non-Violent Crisis Training or willingness to complete once hired.
  • Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check screening.

  • The incumbent must have a year of related experience.

Compensation

The target hiring range for this position is $18.25 to $21.04 with a maximum of $23.82. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
