Come join our Youth Services Team as a :

Community Recreation Worker

Full Time Permanent ($32 / hr. to $37 / hr.)

You have extensive knowledge of the health and social determinants impacting Indigenous Young Adults, particularly those who have been in care and are receiving Post Majority Services. The position provides direction to the Post Majority Team and supports youth engaging in the program by facilitating community connections and opportunities. The Community Recreation Worker works in a team environment and is expected to provide specific support to Young Adults housed in our supportive housing program. This includes day-to-day support, facilitating cultural and community connections, crisis support, and recreational opportunities. The program is tailored to meet the individual needs of each Young Adult, respecting where they are in their personal and cultural journey. This program is for Dalkelh Young Adults aged 19 to 26 years. This position is full-time.

Qualifications include :

  • Combined education and training with related experience in youth care
  • Willingness and ability to work with Young Adults to identify, develop, and strengthen their cultural identity and life plans
  • Awareness of Dalkelh Culture, community services, resources, and systems; ability to mentor and model effective techniques and interventions with young adults
  • Experience working with Indigenous groups/communities in a cultural context
  • Certifications such as First Aid, Class 4 Driver's License, Crisis Prevention Intervention, Suicide Intervention, Food Safe are required but will be considered if applicants are willing to obtain them after hire
  • Ability to undergo a successful criminal record search
