Job summary

Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services (CFMWS) seeks a Community Recreation Supervisor to lead quality leisure programs and facilities for military members and their families. You will coordinate diverse offerings, from preschool to senior activities, across fitness, arts and culture, and oversee libraries and membership offices.

You will mentor junior staff and volunteers, supervise day-to-day operations, and ensure programs align with the organization's mission to enhance well-being

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Current CPR and Basic First Aid qualifications required (HIGH FIVE standards).
• Experience in planning, organizing and evaluating recreation programs; supervision of personnel and volunteers.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and coordinate community fitness, sports, arts and culture programs, civic events, libraries and membership services.
• Mentor junior staff and volunteers to improve program quality and service delivery.
• Manage operations, budgets and delivery of recreation services for military families.

THE ROLE

The Community Recreation Supervisor plays an important role, providing quality leisure programs, services and facilities to our military members and their families.

Our services are tailored to help families with the challenges they may face due to military life and make the most of everyday activities such as going to the playground or day camp. We believe that when members of the Canadian Armed Forces are able to take good care of themselves and their families, they can do better both at home and at work. Whether families need to sign the kids up for swimming lessons, improve their fitness, make friends in a new community, our services are here to help.

You will have a diverse portfolio, providing programs to preschoolers, to adults and seniors. Each day will be different as you supervise, coordinate and manage the details of community fitness, sports, arts and culture programming, civic events and oversee services such as libraries and membership offices. You will have a chance to expand your skills and share your passions as you mentor junior staff and volunteers all with the goal of improving the quality of life for our military.

We are looking for dynamic, independent and motivated individuals to join our team, helping us ensure recreation is all about fun!

Qualifications Needed

Education, Certifications and Licenses

• High school diploma

Current CPR And Basic First Aid Qualifications

• HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development or HIGH FIVE Sport (successful completion by end of probation)
• HIGH FIVE QUEST 2 (successful completion by end of probation)
• HIGH FIVE Healthy Minds for Healthy Children (successful completion by end of probation)

Experience

• In planning, organizing and evaluating the operations and delivery of recreation programs
• In program development and instruction
• In applying policies, procedures, regulations, and applicable legislation
• In supervising personnel
• In supervising the work of volunteers
• In budget administration

Competencies

• Client focus, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation, teamwork and leadership

Language Requirements

• English Essential / Bilingual (English and French) an asset

• Perform moderate lifting, carrying, pulling and/or pushing (i.e. more than 10 lbs/4.5 kg but less than 50lbs/23 kg).
