Position Overview

Reporting to the Health Services Manager, the Community Outreach Worker (COW) provides clinical services to adults and their families affected by mental illness, substance use, or gambling disorder. Responsibilities include screening, assessment, brief intervention, case management, individual and group treatment, and resource coordination within Mental Health and Addictions and the community. The role emphasizes harm reduction, community development, and psychosocial rehabilitation principles.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Social Work (BSW)
  • Registration or eligibility for registration with a professional regulatory body
  • Minimum one year post-BSW clinical experience in Mental Health and Addictions
  • Skills in screening, risk assessment, including suicide risk, and crisis support
  • Knowledge of DSM, recovery-oriented practice, and trauma-informed care
  • Experience with brief, supportive interventions focusing on harm reduction and recovery
  • Group facilitation and motivational interviewing skills
  • Knowledge of community resources and development methods
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
Additional Requirements
  • Ability to work independently with strong assessment skills
  • Ability to de-escalate situations and provide crisis support
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships
  • Knowledge of social determinants of health
  • Fluency in languages other than English (French preferred) is an asset
Work Details
  • Full-time, permanent position; 75 hours biweekly
  • Up to 75% travel required
Compensation

$35.83 - $46.37 hourly
