Position Title: Community Outreach Coordinator, RISEC Youth Leadership and Excellence Awards (RYLE Awards)
Position Type: Volunteer
Organization: RISEC Community Foundation
Location: Remote/Hybrid (Based in Canada)
Minimum Hours per Week: 5 hours
Term of Volunteer: 6 months, auto-renews unless RISEC management decides not to renew.
Reports To: Program Manager

About the Program:

The RISEC Youth Leadership and Excellence Awards (RYLE Awards) is a program that recognizes and awards young newcomers who are excelling academically, in the community, or in sports. The program aims to identify and celebrate top newcomer performers, initially in Calgary, Alberta, with plans to expand across Canada. In 2025, the goal is to recognize up to 30 individuals with a minimum of $1,000 scholarship each.

Job Summary:

The Community Outreach Coordinator engages with newcomer communities, schools, and organizations to promote the RYLE Awards program and encourage nominations.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a community outreach strategy to promote the RYLE Awards.
  • Identify and build relationships with key community organizations, schools, and leaders within newcomer communities.
  • Organize and conduct information sessions and presentations about the RYLE Awards.
  • Distribute promotional materials and resources to targeted groups.
  • Attend community events and meetings to raise awareness about the program.
  • Encourage and facilitate nominations for the RYLE Awards.
  • Gather feedback from the community and provide insights to the program team.
  • Track and report on outreach activities and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure consistent messaging and program promotion.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong understanding of newcomer communities and cultural sensitivity.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience in community engagement or outreach (preferred).
  • Presentation skills and ability to conduct information sessions.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Passion for supporting newcomer youth.
