FULL/PART TIME POST AVAILABLE - FIXED TERM CONTRACT FOR 12 MONTHS

An exciting opportunity has arisen for Midwives to join the Community Midwifery team at Stockport NHSFT. We are an established team working across the four localities of Stockport, High Peak, in partnership with local services, to benefit women and their families.

We are committed to the professional development of midwives within our Trust and offer a structured training programme that supports and enhances midwifery skills with the latest evidence-based care. We also provide external courses such as Aromatherapy, Biomechanics of birth, Maternity critical care, Professional Midwifery Advocates (PMA), Physiological breech birth, Hypnotherapy, and more. We support staff wellbeing through a dedicated Midwifery Advocacy Service and additional benefits listed below.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will work in community midwifery, providing care throughout pregnancy and the postnatal period, ensuring continuity of care, and acting as the lead professional for low-risk women and within a multidisciplinary team for women with complexities. Evidence of ongoing professional development and intra-partum experience is essential, along with skills supporting birth in various risk environments. Community experience, including safeguarding knowledge and caring for vulnerable families, is advantageous.

  • Understand and adhere to statutory publications affecting midwifery practice
  • Take responsibility for personal and professional development, including mandatory training
  • Participate in audit and research to improve care
  • Supervise and assess student midwives/nurses, fostering a learning environment
  • Share professional knowledge through presentations and research
  • Understand the role of the Professional Midwifery Advocate
  • Engage in Clinical Governance, Risk Management, and Incident Reporting
  • Support compliance with CQC standards and CNST standards

Salary: £31,049 to £46,580 per annum, pro-rata
