Job summary

Compass Communities is seeking a Community Maintenance professional to ensure work orders are completed and common areas are kept clean and well maintained across our Canadian residential communities. Reporting to the Community Manager, you will coordinate basic repairs, safety tasks, and routine upkeep in our neighborhoods.

Responsibilities

  • Complete all work orders as required by the Community Manager and Maintenance Manager.
  • Request and review quotes from outside contractors and manage contracts with contractors/suppliers.
  • General maintenance such as mowing, snow removal, pruning, painting homes, and other tasks.
  • Clean and sweep roads, perform temporary road repairs as needed.
  • Ensure life safety certificates and documentation are up-to-date.
  • Follow up with renovation projects and complete other maintenance duties as assigned.

Role Summary

Reporting to the Community Manager, the Community Maintenance role ensures that work orders are completed, and all common ground areas are maintained and kept clean.

Core Responsibilities
  • Complete all work orders as required by the Community Manager and/or Maintenance Manager, requesting material as needed, and advising when a work order cannot be completed by the maintenance team;
  • Request and review quotes from outside contractors and manage contractual relations with contractors/suppliers;
  • General maintenance such as mowing, snow removal, pruning, picking up yard waste, replacing light bulbs, filling cracks, painting homes and any other maintenance as required in our community homes;
  • Clean and sweep the road, and make temporary road repairs as needed;
  • Participate in all safety training within the assigned timeframe;
  • Report any issues back to Community Manager and/or Maintenance Manager in a timely manner;
  • Maintain a professional demeanor within the team as well as within the communities;
  • Ensure all life safety certificates and back up documentation is in good standing, accurately recorded in company records, and adhere to company life safety initiatives;
  • Follow up with renovation projects and complete other maintenance duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Experience
  • 1+ years of relevant experience;
  • Qualifications in one of the mechanical trades a strong asset;
  • Organized and able to oversee multiple projects simultaneously;
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills;
  • Must be available for on calls from time to time;
  • A valid driver's license and clean driver's abstract are required, and the successful candidate will have the use of a company truck.
