Job summary

Edmonton Public Library is seeking a friendly Library Assistant at Whitemud Crossing Branch to join a fast-paced, customer-focused team. This temporary position runs until March 2027 and offers opportunities to help diverse patrons, teach programs, and assist with digital resources.

The successful candidate will have a relevant diploma or degree, at least one year of library or customer-service experience, and strong information literacy and technology skills.

Qualifications

• An Information Management/Library Technology diploma or a directly related diploma with significant course content focused on education or community work, or an undergraduate degree from a recognized institution.
• A minimum of one year's work experience in a library or an environment where customer service is a core focus.
• Experience in the use of Microsoft Office programs, web-based services and other applications.
• Experience in providing reference services and readers' advisory services is preferred.
• Experience in developing and presenting classes and events for customers of all ages is required; a particular emphasis on leading activities for young children is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers with library resources and technology.
• Deliver classes and events for customers, including children.
• Support community engagement and outreach at schools and daycares.
