Job summary

The YMCA of Owen Sound Grey Bruce is seeking a Community Justice Worker on a 6-month temporary full-time contract. Based in Grey/Bruce Counties, you will deliver alternative justice services, develop workshops, and connect clients with community organizations.

Travel across Grey and Bruce is required. Ideal candidates have post-secondary education in social services, strong communication skills, and experience facilitating workshops.

Qualifications

• Be 18 years or older.
• Be legally entitled to work in Canada.
• Have a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check and Vulnerable Sector Search issued within 90 days of start date.
• Have post-secondary degree or diploma in social services or related field plus related work experience.
• Have minimum Class G Driver's License; own vehicle and be willing/travel throughout Grey & Bruce Counties.
• Demonstrated experience creating content and delivering workshops.
• Demonstrated knowledge of alternative justice and the justice system.
• Excellent communication/organization skills; comfortable with public speaking.
• Detail oriented with high quality service and documentation.
• Able to work independently and set priorities.

Responsibilities

• Deliver alternative justice services to youth and/or adults referred to the program from Grey & Bruce.
• Develop and facilitate workshops for youth and adults.
• Match, place and monitor clients to complete community service with nonprofits.
• Liaise with justice sector agencies and community partners.
• Respond professionally to challenging situations.
• Conduct outreach to local organizations and stakeholders.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
