Job summary

A community service organization is seeking a Community Justice Workshop Coordinator to develop and facilitate workshops and outreach activities in Grey and Bruce Counties. This role involves liaising with justice partners, maintaining administrative records, and delivering alternative justice services. Qualifications

As a charity igniting the potential in people, we are seeking a Community Justice Workshop Coordinator to develop and facilitate workshops and outreach activities and resources. This positions liaises with other justice and community partners, ensures administrative requirements of programs are completed, maintains case files and statistical records as required.

Responsibilities:

  • Delivers alternative justice services to youth and/or adults referred to the program(s) from across Grey and Bruce counties.
  • Develops and facilitates workshops to youth and adults.
  • Liaises with other justice sector agencies and community partners.
  • Responds professionally in challenging situations.
  • Conducts outreach to local organizations, stakeholders and community groups.
  • Utilizes technology to provide services virtually.
  • Is knowledgeable of, and delivers the program in accordance with legal agreement(s), policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates understanding of the Criminal Justice System
  • Represents YMCA of Owen Sound Grey Bruce Community Justice team in the community.
  • Maintains effective communication with all staff in-house.
  • Assists with coverage in relation to other Justice Services (Direct Accountability, Restorative Justice).
  • Develops and/or updates resource/promotional materials and distribute to community agencies ensuring consistency in communications and increased familiarity and referrals to the services.
  • Makes presentations on the program, to community stakeholders, referring agencies and other groups within the community with the goal of increased referrals to the services.
  • Identifies to the program coordinator, other opportunities for outreach and develop and implement strategies to take advantage of those opportunities.
  • Develops, coordinates and conducts group workshops on a variety of topics (such as crime prevention, substance abuse, anger management) to youth referred by the court, police and Justice Team.
  • Organizes room space for workshops in appropriate locations in Grey and/or Bruce counties.
  • Coordinates location, creates monthly workshop calendar; tracks and report attendance. Gathers and tracks evaluation information.
  • Ensures that all reports and submissions are in by the required date.
  • Has a thorough knowledge of program: standards, guidelines and procedures.
  • Ensures that personal expertise and knowledge are kept current, applicable to changes in program direction, and relevant to the responsibilities of the position.

Job Requirements:

  • Be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Have current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check and Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than ninety (90) days preceding your start date.
  • Have minimum Class G Driver’s License; own vehicle and be willing and able to travel throughout Grey and Bruce Counties.
  • Provide 3 professional references.
  • Have a post-secondary degree or diploma in Social Services or a related discipline plus related experience.
  • Have demonstrated experience creating content and delivering workshops.
  • Have demonstrated knowledge of alternative justice and the justice system.
  • Have excellent communication skills and is comfortable with, and enjoys, public speaking.
  • Have excellent organization skills and is detail oriented with high expectations ensuring quality service provision and documentation.
  • Have ability to work independently with minimal supervision and is disciplined in setting priorities and outcomes.
