Position Summary:

Reporting to the Manager, Community Investment (CI), the Community Investment Specialist – Grassroots is an integral part of the Community Investment team. This individual brings strong communication skills, outstanding organizational capabilities, and superior relationship-building skills. The Community Investment Specialist will spearhead the day-to-day execution of community grassroots initiatives for the newly formed UFA Agricultural Community Foundation, working with both internal and external stakeholders to deliver the UFA Foundations grassroots community programs.

The Community Investment Specialist - Grassroots will be accountable to build and maintain community relationships to create exceptional community giving plans including the development, planning, executing, reporting & evaluation/analysis of these programs. The CI Specialist – Grassroots will execute the Grassroots Giving Program for the UFA Foundation and will also support the Manager of CI in planning the annual UFA CI program. The CI Specialist will be required to travel up to 20 percent of the time which could include evenings and weekends.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for program development, planning, execution, performance, and reporting for the UFA Agricultural Community Foundation grassroots giving program, working with both external and internal stakeholders to:
    • Build and maintain community relationships.
    • Proactively identify and assess community needs and opportunities.
    • Responsible for community investment request intake, assignment, and monitoring of community investment requests.
    • Assess, plan, execute, promote, monitor, and evaluate the grassroots giving program, with timely delivery.
    • Develop and share detailed plans for grassroots program execution.
    • Manage, maintain, and organize a large volume of requests and community engagement activities.
    • Plan program deliverables and manage integrations with marketing and communications to support the program.
    • Consult with CI team on community requests and opportunities.
    • Provide line of sight for internal teams on the grassroots giving community initiatives.
    • Engage with the community and attend community events.
    • Provide monthly program reports, summarizing key KPIs and desired program outcomes.
  • Develop compelling content for the annual grassroots program that supports community impact storytelling and drives awareness and engagement.
  • Provide support and backup to CI Manager in evaluating, planning, and administrating the CI program portfolio.
  • Coordinate event planning where required.
  • Plan and execute the annual UFA Food Bank drive.
  • Responsible for managing inventory related to promotional items and signage.

Qualifications required for the position:

  • University degree in business, social impact, PR/communications, marketing, or relevant professional experience.
  • 5-8 years of professional experience in social impact, community investment, community relations, or event management roles.
  • Strong process and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, prioritize, manage high-volume with multiple projects, priorities, and deliverables simultaneously.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficient skills in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, and Outlook).
  • Proficient reporting and data analysis skills, with experience generating dashboards (MS Power BI or similar tool experience would be an asset).
  • Demonstrated workflow management software and/or CRM experience considered an asset.
  • Willingness to network, contribute to brainstorming sessions, share thoughts and ideas, and connect people.
  • Proactive self-starter, who embodies the qualities required to deliver exceptional customer service and experience.
  • Works collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Social media experience an asset.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
