Job description
Job Title: Community Inclusion Support Worker

Location: Parksville

Position Type: Full Time

Schedule: Mon-Friday 36 hours between 9-5

Wage: $24.41 - $27.89 per hour

Job Summary

Bonaventure Support Services is a dynamic and expanding social service agency on Vancouver Island. We offer a broad range of services, support, and opportunities to adults who live with diverse abilities. Our focus is person-centered with goal-directed options and full participation in the community. The Community Inclusion Worker establishes and maintains a warm and personal relationship with each person supported and encourages the natural support and active involvement of family members, friends, and neighbors in each person's life. A key component of this role is to assist individuals in their physical, social, emotional, recreational, economic, educational, and vocational life skill development. As a Community Inclusion Support Worker, you will follow the direction of the Program Manager and function as part of a team to help provide avenues to make friends, find activities, new opportunities, and meaningful contributions to the community. You will contribute to all operational aspects of the program as defined in the Job Description.


Responsibilities
  1. Assist individuals with the activities of daily living involving their personal and health care, behavioral, nutritional, recreational, social, vocational, educational, and environmental needs as identified in their person-centered plans (PCP).
  2. Provide support and advocate choice, while assisting individuals in their physical, social, emotional, recreational, economic, educational, and vocational life skill development.
  3. Adhere to any relevant Legislation and Regulations (Motor Vehicle Act, CLBC, MCFD, CARF, WorkSafe-BC, Employment Standards).
  4. Work in collaboration with MCFD, CLBC, VIHA, DDMHT, HSCL, Behavior Consultants, etc. and the Bonaventure Leadership team.
  5. Uphold the Policies and Procedures of Bonaventure Support Services while modeling our Mission Statement, Values, and Code of Ethics.
  6. Demonstrate a high degree of tolerance and respect for a supported individual's unique personality and challenges, while promoting one's dignity and rights.
  7. Perform all duties in a safe, efficient manner upholding the health and safety requirements of the program and report any health or safety concerns.
  8. Support and promote a friendly and effective working relationship with family and team members.

Qualifications
  1. Preferred formal education (Diploma or Degree, CSW, RCA, SIVA, etc.) and/or work experience with persons with diverse abilities and/or other relevant experience.
  2. Excellent interpersonal behavior and communication skills.
  3. The desire and ability to work with persons with diverse abilities and demonstrate personal suitability to promote dignity, independence, individuality.
  4. Ability to work independently in a high-stress environment.
  5. Must be in good health with the physical ability to carry out the duties of the position and shift responsibilities.

Required Documentation
  1. Valid BC Class 5 Driver's License.
  2. RCMP Criminal Record Check (Schedule A - Employer will file).
  3. First Aid with CPR Certificate.
  4. Food Safe Level 1 Certificate.
  5. Immunization Records or Medical Exemption.
  6. Signed Bonaventure Hire Package.
  7. 3 References - (One must be a most recent employer).
  8. Physician's Declaration.
  9. TB Screen.
