The Indigenous Women's Healing Centre is seeking a Community Host to be the welcoming face at Mount Carmel Clinic. This casual position involves building trust with clients, providing assistance, and collaborating with staff to ensure safety protocols are followed. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, experience working with diverse community groups, and understanding of Indigenous issues.

POSITION TYPE: CASUAL (Mon – Fri; 9:15 am/12:15 pm – 5:30 pm/8:30 pm)
The Community Host is the first point of contact for clients and community members at Mount Carmel Clinic. They work to create a welcoming, respectful, and safe environment for everyone and provide information, referral, and assistance as needed. The Host participates in implementing safety protocols and collaborates with staff to manage urgent and emergent situations. The Host builds relationships and trust with individuals, families, staff, and the community.
Proven knowledge and ability in relationship-building, critical thinking, decision-making, problem-solving, and conflict resolution.
Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently to achieve service goals and outcomes.
Commitment to MCC's principles, reflecting its history, vision, mission, and values.
Knowledge of Indigenous culture and traditions and the impact of colonization on Indigenous health and well-being.
Ability to work respectfully and professionally within an interdisciplinary team, demonstrating cultural awareness and sensitivity.
Knowledge and application of diversity, equity, cultural safety, pro-choice, social determinants of health, harm reduction, trauma-informed care, and community development principles.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; proficiency in MS Office Suite.
